Your 3 days tour from Fes to Marrakech begins in the morning with pickup from your hotel, riad or an agreed accessible point in Fes.
Morning — Fes to Ifrane and the Middle Atlas
Leave the city behind and travel south toward Ifrane. Its mountain setting and tree-lined streets offer an immediate contrast with the historic streets of Fes.
After a short break, continue into the cedar landscapes of the Middle Atlas.
Barbary macaques can sometimes be seen in the forested areas around Azrou. Because they are wild animals, sightings cannot be guaranteed, and we recommend observing them without feeding or disturbing them.
Midday — Through the Middle Atlas
Continue toward Midelt through open mountain scenery. Lunch can be taken along the route before the road begins descending toward southeastern Morocco.
The landscape changes noticeably after the mountains. Forests become less frequent, valleys become drier and the road begins approaching the Tafilalet region.
Afternoon — Ziz Valley
One of the most impressive views of the day appears around the Ziz Valley, where long palm groves follow the oasis between dry mountains and traditional villages.
When timing allows, stop at a panoramic viewpoint before continuing through Erfoud toward Merzouga.
Late Afternoon — First View of Erg Chebbi
By late afternoon, the golden Erg Chebbi dunes begin to rise from the desert plain.
Prepare a small overnight bag and meet the camel team before leaving the road behind.
Sunset — Camel Ride in the Sahara
Begin your Morocco camel ride through Erg Chebbi. The caravan travels slowly into the dunes while the afternoon light changes across the sand.
If weather and timing allow, stop on a dune for sunset before continuing toward your camp.
Night — Merzouga Desert Camp
Arrive at camp and settle into your private tent. Depending on the option selected, accommodation can range from a comfortable desert camp to an upgraded luxury desert camp in Merzouga.
Dinner is served in the evening. When arranged by the camp, there may also be traditional drums and music around the fire.
Later, step away from the main camp area for a quieter look at the Sahara night sky.
Driving distance: approximately 500 km
