Rock formations dominate the morning; sand dunes define the evening. The second day contains the biggest visual change of the entire tour.
Morning — Todra Gorge
Leave Dades and continue toward Tinghir and Todra Gorge.
Take time to walk beside the river beneath the tall canyon walls before continuing toward southeastern Morocco.
The stop is simple but worthwhile: being on foot inside Todra gives a much better sense of the scale of the gorge than seeing it only from the vehicle.
Afternoon — Road to Merzouga
Continue through increasingly dry landscapes toward Merzouga, with a lunch stop along the route.
By late afternoon, the Erg Chebbi dunes begin to appear on the horizon.
Sunset — Camel Ride into the Sahara
Prepare a small bag for the night and meet the camel team.
Your Morocco camel ride crosses part of Erg Chebbi toward the camp. The pace becomes much slower once the road disappears behind you.
When weather and daylight permit, stop on the dunes for sunset before continuing toward camp.
Night — Merzouga Desert Camp
Settle into your private tent and enjoy dinner in the Sahara.
Depending on the accommodation package selected, you can stay in a comfortable camp or request a luxury desert camp in Merzouga.
When organized by the camp, traditional drums and music may follow dinner before the night becomes quieter around Erg Chebbi.
